Final Itinerary

The past few weeks I’ve been sorting out the rest of my holiday and I’ve decided to make some changes.


I had originally planned to visit Russia but with the relations between them and the UK means visa processing times have gone up from five to 20 business days. I wanted to book tickets home three months out because of prices and didn’t. Plus I didn’t want to risk anything in case I was denied the visa. All hope is not lost, when I get back (and after buying my Nintendo Switch) I’m going to start saving for my next adventure. The Trans Mongolian express hopefully in 2020. Anyone interested in joining me please let me know.


Anyway in the meantime here is look at what I’ll be doing until I get home. I’m really looking forward to staying with my family again. Plus getting a chance to meet some I have never met. I will also get to go camping which I’ve been thinking of doing for a while. Then I will get to see all the places my dad and family lived in Kent.


Also on another positive note I will not be homeless when I return (yay) as I will be moving in with a friend on the North Shore. The added bonus being that I will only live 15 mins away from work. I guess I’ll no excuses not to hit the gym now after work?

Day Seven (I’m having issue uploading the blogs with pics at the moment so will have to edit them at a later date). Feeling weary and tired I headed off with my list of things to see and do. Throughout my trip I keep on getting lost and I was trying to figure out why this was such an issue. On previous trips when I’ve been in London and Paris with no wifi and didn’t get as lost. So today I decided to simply use the subway map - no according to google maps it was not the fastest way to get places, however, it solved my lack of direction issues. I wanted to go to the Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Centre) so headed there first. When I got in line I thought there were only a few people - unfortunately the line went around the corner. Once I finally got to get a ticket (30-40 mins later) I was told that the earliest I could go up was in a few hours. I got annoyed as I would not have waited so long had I known this. Scotland - The land of bagpipes and haggis

Day one: I said farewell to my aunt and cousin today thrn headed up to Edinburgh. It was quick and we arrived in just over four hours. Stepping off the train and getting out of the station was breathtaking. The gardens and monuments were amazing. I ended up walking to my hostel as it was only 10 mins down the road. Let’s just say this is the best hostel so far on my trip. Modeled like Japanese pods you get you bunk which has a curtain you can close for privacy. It does not feel claustrophobic and there is more than enough space for myself and all of the things I need during the night. I had slept for most of my train ride up and was still exhausted so dragged myself out for food before having an early night. Day two: I started the day on a hop on, hop off bus as I had bought a 48 hour pass on three different routes. I went to visit the Castle first as I had booked a ticket online. Chicago - the Cold and Windy City

Union Station is amazing!  I arrived in the afternoon and walking from Union Station across the road to find my Uber I had a rather strange experience with a homeless man. He attempted to assist me - I did say a number of times that I didn’t need his help, however, he persisted. Luckily my Uber arrived and he gave me some advice on how to deal with people like that going forward. Arriving at my new hostel I was quite impressed as there was a restaurant / bar downstairs which means I could stay in for the evening.  Day One: The following morning I had to head back to Target to exchange some tee shirts and my jeans that had the security tag left on! Luckily I did because I managed to buy this Lego set that has technically not been released. I also managed to pick up some much more comfortable shoes.  I then went on a hop on hop off bus tour of the city.
