Amsterdam - One Day Special

One day only:

Had to wake up at 2.40am as my bus left at 3.30 for my 6am flight. I only managed maybe four hours sleep as the person above me kept alternating coughing and laughing. I then put in my earphones to block out the noise only for her then to start watching whatever she was out loud. Luckily she switched back to earphones when I asked.

Anyway I got up and had to walk 20 minutes to the square where the bus leaves from. I had intended to take a taxi but of course they are on strike. Luckily there were still bars and restaurants open so I didn’t get mugged or stabbed. The temperature was still 25 degrees outside so I was sweating by the time I got there. As there was a taxi strike the bus was completely full but luckily almost everyone got a seat.

Got to the airport and checked into my flight okay then had to sit next to the most annoying man. I was on the window seat and he was in the middle and decided to take up my arm rest and most of the space for my legs. He did move them when I told him off.

Got to Amsterdam and had booked a canal tour on an open top boat. The cruise was amazing. I always knew there were a lot of canals but not as many as there were. As is was a smaller boat we were able to go through a lot of the lower canals the bigger ones can’t fit.

I then wanted to go and see Anne Frank’s house but I needed to take a bus. I had bought a transport ticket that included busses but when I got on it said it didn’t work on that one. I then decided to instead go back to the airport as it was getting late. I was not willing to get lost and stressed out that I would miss my flight.

Went through security for them to have issues with my bag. I have left on spray on deoderent which I had been looking for. However, they also had issues with coins and magnets for some reason? I’ve been buying both along the way. No idea why it was an issue now. Anyway I’ve decided to re-do my packaging strategy and put them in my check-in bag as next flight is to Israel and they are even more overcautious for a good reason.

Made it to the gate only then to hear they were looking for someone to leave the flight as it was overbooked. I dreaded this and after a few calls no one had decided to volunteer - I was feeling sick thinking that with my luck I would be picked. Lucky I was not.
