Lucerne - A Fairytale Land

Day one: Can you guess? I was woken up again at 4pm by the same girl and again I had to wake her up. And again her snooze went and she slept through it. I always thought someone sleeping through an alarm was a joke. She has proved me wrong. She then decided it was the time to pack for her early train / plane without saying sorry. I could not get back to sleep and was feeling irritated when I got to the train station. Because of the strikes one of the trains I needed was not going, luckily I managed to get to my station only have to change once. The train ride was picturesque though and I enjoyed listening to my 80s pop watching the countryside roll by. I found it fascinating that the only reason I knew we had passed into Switzerland was that my cell phone coverage changed. I had wondered a few days before where my passport had to be checked and didn’t realise that once your in Western Europe there are no real boarders so no one looks at your passport. So if you are looking for someone ...

Paris - The Home Of Striking

Day one: I had to get up early for the flight but I’m glad I didn’t feel too bad. As it turns out I was quite early but when I saw the line I was glad I did. The flight was fast and I’m happy to say it took longer to walk through the terminal then get through passport control. There was a line for everyone else then EU citizens - I was through in around three minutes (thank you UK passport). I somehow managed to get to the train and buy a ticket but then tripped up and fell on my bad knee. Feeling like a complete idiot I’m glad at least that the knee is fine. I then went and checked into my hostel to take a nap but I must have been tired as I woke in time for dinner. Day two: This is what I would call a fail day. I managed to buy metro tickets luckily this time the machine also allowed you to use English instructions which was good. My first fail started when I got to the catacombs - I saw you could buy advance tickets online but only for days I had firm plans. I read if you got there ...

Day one: I said farewell to my aunt and cousin today thrn headed up to Edinburgh. It was quick and we arrived in just over four hours. Stepping off the train and getting out of the station was breathtaking. The gardens and monuments were amazing. I ended up walking to my hostel as it was only 10 mins down the road. Let’s just say this is the best hostel so far on my trip. Modeled like Japanese pods you get you bunk which has a curtain you can close for privacy. It does not feel claustrophobic and there is more than enough space for myself and all of the things I need during the night. I had slept for most of my train ride up and was still exhausted so dragged myself out for food before having an early night. Day two: I started the day on a hop on, hop off bus as I had bought a 48 hour pass on three different routes. I went to visit the Castle first as I had booked a ticket online. You can see why this castle would never be breached as it sits upon a volcanic rock. It was interesting to...
